Changes to Discounts – allowing Discounts between Shopify stores with linked Products

Shopify Discounts applies to column changes

Earlier, if you had a Discount code with any related Collection, Product or Variant – you couldn’t copy it from one store to another. It was referencing those by ID, and IDs in each store is different.

Now, when you export Discounts, you will see that there are no IDs of related Collections, Products or Variants anymore for columns “Customer Buys: …” and “Applies To: …”.

Therefore, the Discounts sheet column names have changed.

Customer Buys columns:

  • From “Customer Buys: Collection IDs” to “Customer Buys: Collections” with Collection Handle value
  • From “Customer Buys: Product IDs” to “Customer Buys: Products” with Product Handle value
  • From “Customer Buys: Variant IDs” to “Customer Buys: Variants” with Handle|SKU combination as the value

Customer Gets columns:

  • From “Customer Gets: Collection IDs” to “Customer Gets: Collections” with Collection Handle value
  • From “Customer Gets: Product IDs” to “Customer Gets: Products” with Product Handle value
  • From “Customer Gets: Variant IDs” to “Customer Gets: Variants” with Handle|SKU combination as the value

Changes to “Discount Type” column:

  • “Percentage Discount” is replaced with “Percentage”.
